I currently have '98 Maxima (my second Maxima) and I am very pleased with it. IMO it is by far one of the most reliable cars (165k miles with NO repairs, just starter and a few O2 sensors)..........however I wanna change. I know and I read alot of good things about GS430. I came to the conclusion that 2002 would be the best and most affordable year. am i right?
Is there anything i should know before buying? realibility issues?
I want to spend no more then $25k for a loaded (Mark Levinson + Navi) GS430 with about 50k-60k miles. Is this possible?
yea i don't know if you did or not but u should check out autotrader. im in the market for another gs myself. if you want you can start at 01 and work your way up. i notice every since the 3rd gen gs came out u can find just about any combo you want for a good price. good luck on your search

yeah i noticed that 23-25k is the right price. I am looking for 2002 cause the navigation unit was updated and for 2003 there are no major changes.
Overall the GS is an extremely reliable auto. Each car is unique to iself due to how it was cared for. Most here have had no to very few minor problems, others had to spend thousands to get their new used car back into shape. Shop cautiously and have the car checked out by a third party. There's a local shop here that excels in this service, they go over the car with an ultra fine tooth comb and you will know every little thing that is wrong or border line for $95. Good Luck!!

o yea i forgot to mention the navi upgrade in the 02 models. i wasn't to much into the stock navi thing (after hearing some people talk about how bad it is). but my main focus is ICE, so i know i need a well off headunit to make that happen. so i got my eyes out for a 01+ non navi unit so i can place that sweet a$$ apline iva w200 and keep the heat/ac control intact. i heard it was costly (and kinda hard) to install a heat/ac control in a pre-navi GS. Believe me once you get this car you going to fall in love with it right away. i still remember my first test drive in it, and i still remember the day i sold it (and everything else in between). Dam i need to get me another GS soon before i loose my mind
I am a former multi-maxima owner as well ('90,'94,'02). The move to the GS430 was the best thing I ever did. The only thing i miss is having a stick. I had no problems whatsoever with my Maximas throughout the years, but the GS is a whole different league. You should be able to find an '02 for $25K. Good luck!
