Exclamation Clips ?

So i wanted to take off the chrome trim of the stock side skirt mold (front) and after 20 mins of trying to loosen the clips, i noticed there was some sort of double-sided tape under it , when i cut the tape , the chrome just come off . what the hell are the clips for ?

Are the clips still attached to the part? If not, they were most likely broken when the piece was originally removed and double sided tape was used to secure it. When I changed out my stock side skirts, there were clips on all the moldings - no tape.

if you're speaking of the clips that are attached to the lower section of the fenders, they are there to hold that piece of cladding,LOL,what would be the other purpose of a clip?
I belive Protecto-Trim makes a nice replacement universal chrome molding that uses simple double sided tape for attaching,I've done bunch of kits on second gen GSs a few Avalons, and that molding fit perfect in the groove.
