suddenly i feel at home with you guys. 01 GS430 here with almost 109k on it. i bought it with 99k for 18,000. all options except nav. 17" chromies, no leaks at all, engine looks as clean as a brand new 06/07 on the lot. only maintenance ive done so far are oil changed and i put in a new set of plugs just for peace of mind. dealer plugs, Denso Iridium (toyota box). car runs like a top, only mod so far are i had a magnaflow catback fabbed for it with no resonators and twin tip mufflers each side(4 tips total.) and of course window tint. performance wise im happy with the straight line acceleration. any suggestions for handling that i could do in my garage?(i CAN do struts/springs but i really dont want to since the car still has a warranty on it until 136k miles or 2008. would sway bars help with the stock tire/wheel setup of 17x8 with 235/45/ZR17 Fuzion ZRi's on it?

I have a black on black lexus GS300 brought it new and it been the best running car Ive ever experienced compared with all other cars Ive owned. it has 67 thousand miles no problems at all except wearable parts, but it has had to get a tune up and Ive taken it to the dealer because of rattling and squeaks. Our cars shouldnt be making those kinds of noises we've paid to much money for them it was sounding like a Honda Civic for a month until the dealer tightened everything and replaced a couple of wearable part other than that there were absolutely no problems at all. Love the car and would like to get my hands on a new GS very soon and the SC convertible.

I've heard that some LEXUS models have made it to 250,000 miles with the original transmission and engine and all other major parts. If that totally true I may never by another car brand other than Lexus.

I have 90k on my 98 GS400 and it runs great. I've had two LS400s before this and I ran one to 200,000 miles and it still ran perfect when I sold it. The LS with 200k never had any major parts replaced. Just regular maintenace-water pump, timing belt, spark plugs, blah blah blah

i wanted to know. since my 01 gs430 has almost 110k on it. when should i expect things like the alternator or starter to go out? the starter isnt as much of a concern since i know eventually i could get it started. im worried though about being on a road trip and having the alternator go out.

You can actually drive for a while on a full battery if the alternator goes out. Just don't use any accesories that require power.
