I bought mine back in 2010 with 79,xxx. The 2002 gs300 now has 142,xxx. Best: built and safe like a tank. Worst: gas mileage sucks.

I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I replaced the MBC at 250,000 miles and it drives even better than new now with the upgraded 2001 MBC. I love this car!

What is MBC?

Default My experience.

[QUOTE=clos430;8257510]Master brake cylinder/ abs

I love my GS300 but I looked into an upgrade a year ago. I drove 3rd Gen. GS & I was really impressed with amount of power...! I jumped back into my trusty GS and I immediately noticed nosier interior and less power. Regardless, I decided to keep GS300. Why? The damn thing won't break down. It's been abused with city drivings and long distance cruise through 110 heat of the Texas deserts during summer but to no avail...she keeps going strong. Added onto that two frontal collisions. Most other cars would have ended up in a junkyard but its still running fine. The right heater gave up, front brake shakes and engine sounds noisier every each year but she keeps on rolling. Good thing because I'm banking with no car payments. Lol

Did the ball joints at 90k... Springs in stick struts at 110k...Suspension struts replaced at 220k. Bushings at various times...timing belt at 110k and 230k...All in all ultra reliable and driven like it was designed.

Default What are you getting for gas milage?

I just bought a 2002, 2 owner Gs300 with 124k and have not put it on the road yet. It would be interesting to see what people are getting for gas milage with automatic transmission using 89-92 octane gasoline in the city and on the highway the Gs300. My wife's Es330 gets 24 in the winter and up to 28 on the highway in the summer. Can I expect this kind of gas milage with the Gs300?

Short answer, no.

Depends on where you live. It seems the more north, the better the mileage. The manufacturer claimed 16 city and 23 highway. Also a big factor is your city to highway ratio. 2GSs tend to really gulp gasoline in the city.

I average about 18 mpg. I would say 60% highway. However I usually cruise at about 75-80 mph.

I can get 20 in the city with pretty much normal driving, but cruising around 75ish on the highway I get 24-26. I would say those numbers are feasible, but you'd have to drive a little less spirited

Average around 18 with 40% Hwy and 60% city.

Last time I had 100% Hwy was 22 or so.

Just rolled over 150k on my 2001 GS430. Love the car. Was considering getting something newer, but recently decided to put a little $ in it and drive another 50k or so.

Yesterday my neighbor was telling my how much he loved the look of my car. Beautiful paint. Classy design. I reminded him that I bought it with 90k 4.5 years ago for $10.5k. The car new was around $48k.... I'm so glad that someone else ate that $37.5k depreciation and left me such a great car.

Re: Mileage. 23-24mpg on state highways below 65mph. 20 on interstate at 80mph. around 20 mixed town / local driving.

I've got about 87,000 on my '02 GS300 Sport Design. I bought it in 2006 with I think 44,000 miles.

I was going to sell it last year and pick up a 2013 but decided I don't want a car payment for the next 5+ years so I kept it. I'll probably hang on to it a few more years till my nephew starts driving and give it to him. I have a company vehicle for work so my car only really gets driven on weekends.

I did have to finally put some money into it last year for exhaust, 0xygen sensor, starter, battery, ball joints, brakes, and control arm. I also had a new remote start put on as everything seemed to crap out winter of 2014. I've got the door lock problem now but can still lock the doors by putting the key in the drivers door to lock all them hit my alarm.
