You guys know how on the 2001 GS, you can control the stereo with the buttons attatched to the steering wheel? Can this be converted to work in a 98-2000GS?
What does it involve? I was told that you need a new stereo, and a complete steering wheel, and then you have to rig everything up, including the airbag changes.
Isn't there an easier way?
If the lexus one doesn't work, is there an aftermarket kit out there?
thanks!

Considering that you'd need the stereo, the steering wheel, new wiring harness, airbag, etc., I think you'd be better off financially trading up to an 01 (or 02) GS430.

It would almost certainly be cheaper, probably by a large amount.

i believe Pioneer makes a remote that mounts to your steering wheel but then you have to swap out your radio........but then again......is it really that important

I also think you need the Amp. In my Mark Levinson system, the Amp is also the brain...you gotta see the schematics on this thing! It's out of control...

On the "Premium" system, it may be the same way. I would ask in the Electronics section...

I would trade my radio controls on the wheel for E-Shift. I know you can't do this though. I don't really care for the controls on the wheel because I'm always bumping them and changing the cd or the channel.
