Concerns And Questions About S-AFC
Hey guys... I have some problems and concerns about the S-AFC, please help me out
first my mom doesn't want it for some reason, probobly because shes really concerned about electronics on a car. I am worried about what if they dont install it right... even though they have installed the S-AFC on the Supra...
what do you guys think about it? typing it and thinking about it i realize how not-dangerous it is once its installed proporly, please help me out and help me explain to my mom its all good.. thanks guys you know how power hungry I am so please help me get this part!!
thanks again, i know my mom wil like this part when its installed, because she likes power and since the exhaust will be quieter

first, what do you meant by not install it right?
assumming you give it to someone who has some common electrical skills, they don't wire + to -, then
if you have some connections loose, not wired properly, then you will get check engine light, if you don't get that, then you are fine, if you do, check your wire connections (connection made with the car ECU that is)
I think the only wire that effecting your car is the wire that connect to your MAP sensor signal (breaking the signal out to generate a new signal for the car ECU),
the rest of the wires are tapping into your car sensor signals to MONITOR them for the display, they are not changing the value of those sensors, so you should be ok (i am not going into impedance explanation when you tap into the sense wires and how it effecting the whole circuit, that would be too much, all I can say is the apexi unit are designed tap into your car sensors to monitor w/o much effecting that sensor circuit loading)
so you make sure that you have good solid connections when you have to cut the factory wires, if you are just tapping then it's not as important, but you should have all the connection solid (ie, i soldered all of the connections to make sure they are solid connections.)
you can alway by pass all the signal modification by just turn it off. (assumming all of your wires have good connections as stated above)
on the tunning part, don't go lean out your mixture but 30% for no reason, then you should not have to worry, or just turn the thing off, then all the custom setting are bypass

thanks bannana, i'll be RIGHT BESIDE the guy when hes installing it and we'll turn on the car and see for check engine lights to re-wire, i think this guy does good work, and he works with Supras a lot. how do you turn OFF the system? is there a way to have it setup so that when you turn on the car the system is off? this would be good for when my mom is driving or when shes not going fast, because there would be less engine wear and nothing to worry about.
is there a way to have it on just monitoring stuff but not doing anything? and they just press a button that says like GO or something? hahaha
thanks again

Sasha - I haven't looked at all the info, but there's a lot of good stuff on the apexi web site.
Here's a link to documentation:

Here's a link to info on the S-AFC. (Note the little custom rounded scroll arrows and scroller - you can see more text by scrolling down.)

One thing I want to check to see if you can save multiple curves for recall. If you can, then you could have a 'flat' (unmodified fuel flow) curve, and a 'kick ***' one
.

so XS engineering had to re-do it. I think they're either connected to the wrong places or something I'm not sure but my cousin said he had to get it all re-done again.
