Alright, So I got a call this morning from the shop, they said that the car would be ready to pick up a few hours later, and they told me to drop my wheels off so they can slap them on. So I went over there and took the wheels a few hours later, and the owner had left, His 20 year old son was there. He told me that the car still was'nt finished, and it would have to wait until monday. He had about 5 friends back there checking out the car, so he asked me if I had brought the wheels I said no. I dont know but I just didnt trust him, I thought he would probably slap them on and take it out over the weekend. (this has happened to me before with another car.)

I am pretty upset at the job that they did with the installing the TTE lip, there is a little bit of a gap, I didnt take any pics. Also another thing, my car was keyed a while back, made a police report on the spot, and a claim on the spot, but this is the time I went ahead and took it in to get painted... The shop is charging my ins. company 5430.00 for the paint job alone. To make things worse I asked him since he is repainting the whole car, would it be alright for my to buy some new sideskirts and have him paint them and install them, He said sure but it would cost me 500.00, I asked if he would mold my TTE lip and he said that would cost another 500.00.. So I threw those ideas out the window. But get this I got the copy of the estimates from my INS. company and this guy charged them for 1 new tail light for $95.00 and a new passanger side headlight for $379.00 plus 2 hours of installation on these 2 items at $34.00 an hour.

What would you guys do in this situation, keep in mind I didnt need a new headlight because I have retrofits, and I didnt need a new tail light because I just bought the current set not too long ago from Carsons.

I am thinking about waiting until I get my car back from the shop to call my adjuster.

Crooks $5000 paint job Yeah ok, if he doesn't paint the additional parts and fix that lip, I would call the better business bureau and your insurance company. Every repair shop has a license number hanging somewhere visible to customers. I dont even want them to paint any other parts for me, I just want to get my car out of that shop. Only reason I havent called the ins. company or I havent mentioned it to the owner, is because I just want them to get my car done the right way first. I think if I would have mentioned this to him without them getting it done, they would probably screw it up purposely.

 

alright guys, I finally got the car today, I will start a new thread tomorrow with pics... overall the paint job is looking good, had the TTE lip installed, ugo roof installed, retros redone, oem grille painted black, black pearl emblems.

but.. I have to go back tomorrow and talk to the owner since his son doenst know s**t.

couple of things..

I had to buy the black pearl emblems myself, since he said ins. only paid him 90.00 for replacements, and the dealerships he called were charging 300.00+ for the black ones.
so I told him I would buy some elsewhere and he said he would cut me a check... I got some
ebay from LUX mods, now he doesnt want to pay me for them saying he need a better reciept
then an ebay or paypal print out, so I have to call lux mods tomorrow hopefully they can fax me 1 over.. on top of that the emblems were put on crooked, so I think I am just going to take them off and only leave the L on the trunk.

looking over the car when I got it home, they painted the whole car but the sideskirts, I can tell because they look yellowish.

so tomorrow, I have to go back and see if he wants to take care of that problem, plus I am going to call my INS. company and adjuster and let them know about the over charges. He also charged them for paint striping, and new chrome trims that go on the bumpers and around the car, when I asked the son today why they werent replaced he said insurance didnt pay for them.

I think I am just going to have the insurance company take car of everything, from what I was told if I am not satisfied I can take it to another shop and have it done, and the insurance company will cut that from the first shops check.

I hope the dishonest body shop gets what is coming to them. They give the honest shops a bad name.

 

yeah man, i recently had some insurance work done on one of my cars and dealing with the adjuster and the shop just isnt supposed to go how your saying it is...sorry youre having such a hard time, if i were you id just want my car out of there too, but you need to make sure you do something about this so they dont keep screwing people. if that shop is telling your insurance they replaced or had to replace parts that they didnt, and they added to the bill...that is easy, its called INSURANCE FRAUD and its a criminal offense. if the crooked bodyshop owner wants to give you problems, throw that in his face and see how he reacts, cuz trust me, he already knows he can get shut down or fined HUGE but hes just hoping you dont notice....do what you said as well, get the insurance company more involved and make sure you tell them EVERYTHING thats gone on so far and make sure EVERYone has a clear understanding of exactly what and what was not supposed to be covered from the insurance and yourself...if you absolutely cant resolve it with this shop the insurance company will more than likely work with you to finish getting your car fixed up where it will be done properly....reporting the shady shop to the BBB might make you feel better, but its not going to do much for you personally because it takes more than a few reports to actually shut a place down just for doing a shady job...so go about this the right way and make sure the ins. company knows everything thats going on! good luck....
