nice job with the diy pictures. i would leave it alone since most people will not notice it, only you. if you're going to be AR about it, i would try to get rid of the black adhesive asap before it really cures.

you could break a wooden tongue depressor in half, it usually leave a sharp point which you can use to scrape up the excess. Or use a piece of plastic sharpened to a point, dont use metal or very hard plastic.
