i finally tried this out, and it works!!! except for me the dvd button on the menu screen is only enabled while stopped, it goes disabled when in motion. i guess this means you need to remember to do this work-around before taking off on a trip and getting on the freeway.

Yup, i had to pull over to do it too. I wish there was a permanent override code. Oh well, this works for now!

all 3 generations needs the car to be stopped before doing the override.

to me? i do it as soon as i start the car and before i start driving

Henry do you recall ever seeing anything for the 98 - 00? I don't remember but warrants asking. I'd like to add this info to the FAQ

nop, if anything i am still searching for the instructions on how to do so (if possible). i don't have nav so i can't test. anyone with 98-00 hdd based nav wanna let me try?

Press on "I agree"

Press on "Menu"

Press on "System Option"

Press on upper left corner of screen

Press on lower left corner of screen

Press on upper left corner of screen

Press on lower left corner of screen

Press on lower right corner of screen

Press on "Override Drive" will change color

Press "Back"

Press "MAP / Voice"

That's it !!!
