So my car was a lil scratched from somebody at a parkinglot a few months ago , but since it wasnt that big , i decided to just leave it , THEN i noticed lil bits of rust forming around it I wanna know if there is ANYWAY to cure it
I think what Jonathan was referring to was "rust converter" (as opposed to "remover"). You can get it at any autoparts store and it works great. Just apply it on the affected area and it immediately converts the rust to a hard, black paintable surface. Just to be on the safe side, I would wait 24 hours and then apply another coat of converter before touching up the scratch. Let us know how it works out.
Bought my 98 GS300 over two years ago. At one year I noticed some bubbling along the top edge of the windshield. It grew. Took it to a dealer who thought that the windshiled had once been replaced and the guy who did it must have wedged a tool (screwdriver?) along the edge to remove or insert. Checked the VIN and sure enough, windshield replaced at 24k miles. I now had 80k and the bubbling started.
Took it to a shop and arranged repair. They took photos during the process. Turns out that the rust was all along the top edge and down the posts on both sides of the windshield. They sandblasted prepped and painted. It was much worse than the bubbling indicated. Everything fine now with lifetime warranty (while I own it).
at my local autoparts store i saw a touch up paint marker with a paint applicator on one side and a sanding tip on the other. you're supposed to clean up the scratch with the sanding tip and then touch it up with the paint applicator after.
