really? umm i gotta go check it out, somehow i thought the ls430UL i drove had it. i think you have to put the mirror adjustment botton either to driver or pessenger side? i know on my sc430 if i put it in the middle, nothing tilts down

You are correct. The switch has to be in the driver or passager side position. If it is in the middle it will not work. I found this out myself. I thought it was broken in my 2000 LS, then i figured it out.

It is a standard option that you are able to turn on or off with the 3rd Gen GS.

Default I wonder

I wonder if there is a way to make it work with earlier models.

I'm wondering why this is a good feature. So hard to concentrate...
Why do I keep waiting for a bounce-out.

Yes, Henry. Definitely hard! And bounce out would be SO nice. As far as the mirrors are concerned, nothing additional would be needed in the mirror itself, motor is just a slave following instructions from the mirror ECU. Must also be a sender on the shift lever to tell the ECU when reverse is selected. Then ECU (mounted under dash near steering column on old SC3/400) tells mirrors what position is called for. Might be tricky, but not any harder than a lot of other mods people here have done.

...well, might be ghetto rigging it...but maybe somebody can rig up a circuit that can switch between the first and second memory settings (first button = normal , second button = normal, but with mirror pointing down). When the circuit senses the car is in reverse, it'll activate the second button...then when its out of reverse, it reverts back to the first button. Of course, you'd need to override the "safety" triggers (Shifter in park)....and you'd lose the ability to use the second memory settings for someone else.
