Questions about adding a stock spoiler.
I have a GS 430 am thinking about adding the stock spoiler. I have some questions for those who have spoilers.
I believe the spoiler comes with a built in 3rd brake light, can you remove the 3rd light on the rear deck?
Does the spoiler introduce any detailing challenges? Looks like you can still get a hand on all the painted surfaces
Any additional wind noise introduced at higher speeds?
How is your vision in the rear view mirror?
How much weight does it add to the trunk and will the trunk springs hold the extra weight?
Thanks,
Hi,

There are two versions of the deck lid. One with and one without the 3rd light. To do it so it really appears stock means you have to swap out the deck lids. If I recall, that's about $1,000.
Or you could jury rig dark tape over the light, etc., but, although many have done it, it doesn't work for me.

No new challenges other than where it meets the trunk
Any additional wind noise introduced at higher speeds?
No.
How is your vision in the rear view mirror?
You'll see it. It blocks some of the rear view, but not too bad.
How much weight does it add to the trunk and will the trunk springs hold the extra weight?
No problem here if you use a stock spoiler. The trunk has adjustable torsion bars that can be set for with/without the spoiler.
Thanks,
Thanks for the information. If I tint the rear window dark and disconnect wires, it should cover up the 3rd deck light. I just need to remove the light in order to tint. How hard is it to remove the 3rd light from deck? Do you still have to remove entire deck?
Can the 3rd light be taken out without removing the deck? This would be temporary so the entire window can be tinted easily. I would put the light back to cover up the deck hole. Also, if you disconnect the wires for the light on the deck, why would the warning light still go on with the spoiler 3rd light connected?
