newb question about the stereo

Default newb question about the stereo

just wondering i have a completely stock stereo in my 01 gs300 if i got an aftermarket headunit is it a must to change the speakers and all? also if i got an after market headunit would my stock sub still work? thanks

it would work (with a little re-wireing) but would not be worth the upgrade.

The stock sub and speakers are junk.

If your upgrading your head unit spend the extra couple of hundred and get some quality speakers put in.

I agree the factory sub is crap! I kinda like my door speakers though. I'm actually changing out my factory sub this weekend I'd love to jam a 12" in there, but probably won't fit...HAHHAA

Yes, I agree, with the previous responses. You should also spend a few hundred $$$$ and get some quality speakers. Get the best out of your new head unit.

Not doing so would be like changing the spark plugs but not the spark plug wires.
