Hey! Does anyone know whether the crankshaft damper / harmonic balancer on a supra is interchangeable with a 1999 GS300 (VVT-I)?
I've been trying to search for the information and *I think* they might be interchangeable. I think the lower part of the engine has not changed (much). I know the heads are different with the VVT-I engines.
I was bouncing the idea of installing one of these http://www.boostlogic.com/parts_supraNA.html
I know -- still trying to justify the price vs. gain in performance / engine response. Opinions are welcomed.
Also, does anyone know whether the water pump is interchangeable as well?
Thanks.

See, if the water pump is interchangeable with the supra that opens up the possibility of an electric pump. It *should* increase power by about 10HP.
My engine is up for a new water pump, the delta between a toyota replacement and an electric one is about $250. That's not too bad -- $250 for 10HP?
