Default Climate Control Clicking!!!

Hi all,
I just took my car to the dealer, because of a clicking and buzzing sound that occurs when the system switches from inside to outside air. This seems to only happen when the system circulation button is set on auto. The problem is, the sound won't quit, until the system is switched to inside air

Anyway, my warranty won't cover the repair and my dealer quoted me $105 for the actuator and $650 for the labor I've been searching for a thread regarding a DIY repair of this component, but haven't been able to locate one. I was certain I’d seen this one posted here before!!!

Has anyone changed this actuator? How much should I expect to pay for the part and how much labor is involved in the repair? Maybe a better question would be how do I get to the part in the first place?

Are you sure its the actuator? I had this vibrating noise coming form the dash, I had the evaporator core removed and repaired for a/c purposes and after the dash was put back togahter no more vibration.

I'm sure it's the actuator, as I can hear and feal flutter in the vents each time the door clicks back and forth.

OK,

This is my last attempt to get this question answered. Anyone had the issue I'm asking about?

Thanks Chu,

I'm having the exact problem. However without a warranty, I'm looking at $105 for the part and $630 for labor. I'm sure I can perform the repair if I can get some informaton on how to go about it.

It's been a while since I originally started this thread. I've done quite a bit of digging on this issue, but have not been able to locate a DIY fix. I'll be giving in and taking the car into the dealer next week, if I can't locate some instructions regarding this repair between now and then.

Has anyone repaired this problem themselves? Any ideas as to where this relay/motor is located and how best to get to it?

It's 118 in my garage, so I don't feel like taking a lot of time figureing out how to get to the source.
