What is the difference in performance b/t the 1st generation GS's and the current ones???? My mom has always liked the 1st GS's and may get a really nice used one w/ low milage,etc. but she also wants a GS like my dads 99 GS300 b/c of the performance (eventhough its all stock, shes driven a 4runner since 97, so any car that can do 0-60 in 8 sec. much less what a GS can do it in is fast to her). Would a 1997 GS300 be a lot slower than a 1998-2001 GS300?

 

it's slower, not too much but not just slightly either.

No VVTi on the JZS147 GS300. Bad because no Variable valve timing for that extra boost in performance, good because it's very easy to play with the ECU, hence bolt-on turbos are alot easier.
