Default For Those Who'v Done The Gte Swap

Hey guys

I posted this message over on the Lexus Owners Clu forum and hopefully I can get some more info here. This is for those of you who have done the 2jz-gte swap into your gs300, what exactly does it take and around how much am I looking to spend. Please be realistic on that figure. Also is there any fitment differences between using a 6spd, or a 5spd Supra auto. You can forget about the labor unless something needs fabricating, but the rest I can do myself. My supra has the engine sitting next to it in the garage right now so work is not a problem. This is not a joke post as my daily driver is getting a little boring and I would really like something exciting. Having my own gte out of the Supra right now makes me realize that dropping one into a GS probably would not be very hard to do, although my guess is it would be out of an Aristo.

Thanks

Yuri

I did search and found some info but none of it is definitive. No one really says how much a clip could run, no one really describes the parts needed to go into a gs300 if an Aristo V300 can be had. What I am looking for is essentially a list of things needed for the swap and what major work would need to be done to complete the swap. If there is a post containing this information then please post a link to it. Also saying "get an Aristo clip and swap the engine from there" won't really give me much info.

Thanks in advance.

I have been thinking about this swap because i havnt been able to find a clean GS400 and this swap has always been in the back of my mind...

Is there anywhere we can buy front clips or motor/ trans w/ uncut harness w/o having to go on ebay... (which i wont do)

Just tryin to see exactly how much parts will be... cause i know labor is going to cost prolly my right arm.

A garage full of tools is your friend. What are the chances of finding a GS with a blown motor?

Is it possible to get a 93-97 clip and use that for the 98GS or would there be major problems. I don't know if the trannies are the same or not, but I would imagine the ECU would be different. Also where are good places to get clips. I am really starting to think about this swap and would very much like it top happen later this year.
