hey Highmiles, did they ever adjust the valves in any of your 60, 90 etc maintenance? Also, did your steering wheel motor last that whole time?
Chuck, there really isn't any way to "adjust" the valves per se. You check the clearance at each valve and then replace the shims with oversized ones to bring all the valve clearances into spec. The power steering pumps on the Lexus were notorious for wearing out and often having catastrophic failure. The earlier V8 engines had the pump located directly above the alternator. When the p/s pump failed and leaked p/s fluid it went right into the alternator and shorted it out too. Owners were often hit with a double whammy of replacing both at the same time. That design flaw has thankfully been rectified in the more recent engines.

I don't recall any Valve adjustments unless they were done as a standard practice on one of the 90K servces. The only thing done to my steering wheel was lube. Seems it would on occasion squeak but not motor ( I assume you mean pump) or anything like that was ever replaced.
