Valet keys do not unlock glove boxes or trunks and they do not have buttons to unlock or open anything.

only the "MASTER" key has the unlock/lock/trunk buttons

the valet key or spare keys don't

Default Help!

All I have is a valet key, and the "emergency" credit car-like key. Damn car came from an auction, and the dealer didn't have all the keys. To compensate, they put a keyless entry system into the car, but it's still not the same.

Is there ANY way for me to get some master Lexus keys, with the remote buttons on the key.

Lexus was going to charge me $2,000 or so, to replace the ECM and then recut 2 masters and a new valet and emergency key. Basically, you HAVE to buy a whole new set of keys. It's like $1800 or something. Actually, they said they threw in the ECM for free. LOL

So basically, it's $1800 worth of labor and key material to get and reset a whole new set of keys.

Any way around this?

Kevin,

We're working on getting an aftermarket key vendor that specializes in Lexus in as a ClubLexus sponsor very soon. I think they may be able to help you out.

Dude....call up Sewell Lexus, get Daryl on the phone, tell him you want the black master keys and give him your VIN#....shouldn't be more than $100 per key

Ok this is the deal. If you have ever been to an auction you will know what I am about to say. The thing that happens at auctions, is that the cars stand in a huge lot. A lot of the cars are unlocked and the keys are in the armrest, or in the door pockets. People walk up to the cars, steal the spare keys and write down the VINs. Then they track the cars through insurance agencies, find out where that person lives, and steal their car with the original key. I hear that the RX cars are the hot ticket these days.

If you have a car that was bought at an auction, you should consider getting your ECM reflashed, that way all of the previous keys can be removed, and master keys programmed in.

Tami seems like he can do this if you ship the ECM to him. I would strongly suggest that. Or find an alarm guy that can do the service for you locally.

I talked to Kevin and hooked him up with a local locksmith. His ECM doesn't need to be reflashed or replaced. His vehicle has the option of having the immobilizer reset using a scan tool.

Take care,

Tami

Can you imagaine owning one of these cars and NOT having access to this group? What a nightmare.

What does it cost to re-flash an ECM, how long does it take and where does it need to be sent?

On the subject of auction cars. I bought a Taurus for my wife a few years ago from a dealer friend I have known for over twenty years. One thing I noticed right away was that there were no floor mats, owners manual, spare tire, jack or tire tools and only 1 key. Apparently all of this stuff had been stolen either before or at the auction. I insisted that everything would have to be replaced, they had quite a time rounding it all up. I have talked to a number of people who have experienced the same thing when dealing with auction cars. Where do you think the owners manuals advertised on Ebay come from?

exactly. Where do you think the factory alarm fobs come from. Same plase. My friend (DT) was part of a an investigation for this problem. Technically the auctions are supposed to lock the cars now. Only problem is that the people working there still don't care, or just plain don't give a crap.

When I do imagine such a nightmare, I cringe.

The power of the 'Net is remarkable. The importance of a group like ClubLexus is, well, priceless. ...and I mean that literally.

Thanks a ton, Tami. The guy was nice, and he got the job done.

You're welcome Kevin!

I'm glad he was able to get you taken care of. It was a lot easier than fighting with the dealer on this one!

Take care,

Tami
