First Lexus

Well, I just bought my first Lexus and am now a member of the Lexus family. I purchased a 2000 GS300. It has 23K miles and is the Platinum Edition. I think I got a good deal for the car because I paid only $31,500 for it (it was bought just last March for $43k). Is this a good price?
Anyway, is there anything in particular I should know about these cars? Does anything wear out immaturely if not paid attention? Anybody have problems with any certain feature?
My last car was an Infiniti G20 Touring and that was a fun car to drive (5 speed of course) but ended up having all sorts of minor problems that proved to be a real annoyance - visor broke, CD player replaced twice, funky steering noises and clunks, awful compressor belt groan that could never be fixed, auto trunk opener that didn't work right, leaking front struts, and on and on.
I hope Lexus builds a better car. From the looks of things, these cars are much more substantial than the Nissan products. I want to hang on to this GS for quite some time!
Thx...Doug

welcome to the lex world-there is no going back now.
the price you paid for was very good, assuming good condition.
under normal driving conditions(i personaly do not drive and break hard), the lex gs are soo reliable. my first lex was a certified gs300. the only problem i ahd was the cd changer skips sometimes. but the dealer replaced free of charge twice. i bought mine at 15k miles for $30k+fees, sold it 4 years later at 95k miles and the car was still impeccable.
some members experienced warped break rotor, no biggie.

Congrats Doug, I also have a 2000 Platinum and believe me, these cars are low maintenance. Just suggestions, but to clean inside, for leather I use Lexol cleaner and conditioner, I also use Lexol Vinyl cleaner on all non-leather areas, Maguire's Rim Cleaner and their Endurance tire dressing. You can get more tips and different products under the Maintenance section, and make sure to look at past posts to see if there may be a small problem that reoccurs from time to time, so that if you bring it in for work, you'll have some understanding as to what's wrong. Most Lexus dealers are fantastic, but there are the occasional few who give you a hard time over warranty issues, shop around if you must. I know you'll fall in love with the car, my fiancee' has a BMW convertible and I still can't warm up to it, just try not to smirk every time you get in your GS.
only thing I would suggest is that you check the headlights for moisture build up. I think many of us in the south had this problem. But the dealers replaced the lights and all free of charge.
occurs after heavy rain sometimes & sometimes through carwashes.
but so far no problems.
and oh yeah the glovebox rattle. there is a TSB on this item. quick felt fix. the dealer will do this too.
