18 vs 19?????
Hi everyone.... i just bought a 2yk gs4 last month and i LOVE IT!!!.. but its the platinum edition so it has the 16's on it. i was wondering if anyone had any experience with 18's compared to 19's in terms of ride quality. i WANT the 19s but i dont think im willing to sacrifice the lex ride for the 19's!! id appretiate any feedback!!
You could always look in the wheel forum. OOPS!, it's not up yet
Sorry tmasta, just trying to make a point. The best advise I could give is to look through past threads (there are several on this point) and try to get as much information as possible. I too am looking for wheels and there are plenty of knowledgable (and opinionated) people here so take your time and find something you really like before dropping several K on rims.
BTW, from what I've read from other members, 19's aren't as forgiving as 18's (comfort, potholes) but look MUCH better. That's just a bit of information on wheels but I'm sure others will give more in depth details soon.
Welcome to the club!!!

tmasta,
Welcome to the neighborhood. I have had experiences with both 18" and 19" rims. You can have 18" rims that look "fuller" as long as you opt for rims that have less of a lip and spokes that comes close to the outer edge as possible. If you go for the two/three piece wheel, it will optically look smaller. Regardless I recommend you go with a staggered look of 9" width wheels in the front and 10" in the back.
Zushwa brought up a point about potholes. Let me elaborate on that... you are going to need as much sidewall protection as possible. Ineveitably you will run across a pothole... regardless both wheel types will be "hurt." Avoid potholes and be vigilant. In my personal opinion, I wouldn't run anything smaller than a 35 series tire. On a 19"X10" configuration the majority tire makers only have 275/30... however Dunlop makes a 275/35 if you do not mind the increased diameter. Go for the Toyo T1-S, Yokohama AVS Sport, or Bridgestone S0-2 or SO-3.

Personally just went from stock 17's to 18's. The ride is close to same comfort level. From our opinionated and wise colleagues it is going to basically come down to personal choice. I did not like the "all rim" look with the 19 or 20" rims. I wanted a combo of tire/wheel. Not all wheel. You will see plenty of opinions here.
if i get 275/35.... will it hit my body? r they too wide? and what is the widest i can go for my front? thanks ppl!!

tmasta,
i live in the northern va area too, and if you drive in dc or near dc at all then forget about the 19" wheels. way way too many pot holes, i have 18's on mine now and haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood). and i drive in dc all the time. (especially on weekends going to clubs and cruising around with friends)
you can do 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear which looks better but then you can't rotate the tires. or you can do what i did and go with 245/40/18 all the way around. 35 sidewall is too thin for this area in my opinion.
