I understand that if you swap out the steering wheel/airbag in say a 98 for the steering wheel and airbag from a newer es/rx or gs, like many people do for the woodgrain .... That the airbag will not deploy in an accident. Is this true??

well even worse, i don't think they will fit. the 0 1+ airbag (except the 01 rx300) are all dual stage and the old one is single stage. you dont' want to mess with that wiring. not that it won't deploy, but i guess no one knows for sure how and when it will deploy

 

ok, but are we positive that the 01 rx300 is the ONLY single stage airbag? I ask because i was looking on ebay and came across this auction for a 2002 GS300 with what looks like a single stage connector..

well i can only tell the info i got from the lexus tech i talked to. he looked up the info for me so i just remember them
