When you guys use your E-shift, to what RPM or speed do you hold your gear(2nd,3rd,4th) before you shift to the next?

Hey 400:

Every car has a torque to RPM curve which has an ideal point where max. torque is achieved. Remember that it is not necessary that a higher RPM equates to a higher torque in the high RPM band. Although I am not sure of the exact torque spec, anywhere between 5000 to 6000RPM is where you should see ideal torque. Hope this helps.

Lightbulb Almost!

Actually, the V-8 in the GS4 makes maximum torque around 4k or so ( hard to get figures below this rpm on a dyno due to the tranny downshifting ). Peak horsepower tends to occur around 6k ( with the torque/HP crossover rpm being about 5200 ) but these can vary from engine to engine depending on the motor itself & any modifications U may have done. Besides, the rev limiter will kick in about this time anyway - maybe when Swift completes their ECU project we can see if there's any more power up above 6200 or so!! FWIW - I keep my GS between 3k & up when cruising in town. That way I'm approaching the torque peak should I need instant power for evasive action or if someone wants to play!
