One of the 'chrome' tips on my stock 98GS400 is mysteriously bent - I don't want to spring for an entire catback yet, so am looking for replacement tips. Anyone know the ID of the internal stock muffler tips? Also, are the stock mufflers stainless as well?

I've never seen stock 'chrome' tips on a 98 GS before. Can you post a pic?

No, I do not believe stock mufflers are stainless.

 

I put chrome in quotation to indicate they are fake - the cover to the muffler tip, for lack of a better description. It is a shiny piece of tubing that sits on top of the dark brown "true" muffler outlet tube. It is the diameter of that "true" muffler outlet tube that I am interested in. The aftermarket tip would fit over that wnd would be welded in place (after cutting the muffler tube down some).

 

i believe the stock inner tips is 2.25". i have a set of silver/chrome tips if you want to buy them. pm me if you're interested. they are not bent.

 

i think since 01 they put on a little bigger tip
