also does anyone know for sure if any dvd's are swappable between diff lexus models. (i actually posed this question on a diff thread but got no replies) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=143983
well making copy of the dvd is considered pirated software, and it's not allowed per forums rules, so i was just stating it

Well, I just got my Navigation DVD disc today (Data Ver 3.1) and it worked. I think my gf's disc would have worked too. I found out that my map coverage area was not selected as California after I installed it so the POI's wouldn't work. The same thing happened when I installed Ver 3.1 in my car but I now have California selected and it works fine. I haven't had a chance to see what's new about it so I guess I'll experiment for a bit and update you guys in a couple of days. Just in case you guys are wondering, the part number for the Ver 3.1 is 86271-33032.

that's good info there! so basically with the 01+ nav (dvd), you can just stick in the new dvd disc and it will do all the trick for you huh

Glad to hear your NAV is back in action. Enjoy the updated POIs and any new roads!

That is correct, as discussed already though, just be careful if you have DATA 2000 ver.1! Once you update that one, you can't go back. I've given my old DVD update to my gf's dad for his 01 LS430. It's to keep me out of the doghouse

Hey guys,

I just took my car out for a bit and the map is slightly updated compared to my old one. There are now icons for parks, malls, etc. I think all NAV's after 2001 has this according to my gf. My POI's are vastly updated now. With my Ver.1, Starbucks would not show up at all, now I have like 200 something of them. (Jamba Juice as well). My route guidance have changed as well. I now have an option to choose "minimized turn route" along with the usual "Minimized distance" and "Minimized Time". So far, I am happy that I messed up my NAV this past weekend. Thanks for all your inputs. Let me know if you want to know anything from my new updated disc or if you need pictures. (Just got a Sony 5mp digi cam).

You cannot use the part number with 40 at the end.. this is for generation 4 navigation systems starting from MY 04 for all lexuses...you should be looking for a part number like 86271-33033.. the last two digits of the part number tell you the navigation generation..so you need anything that has 31,32,33...33 is the most recent version...
