Need advice -- something's missing

Thanks, 3dog. If it's not too much trouble, could you post some pix of your car and your wife's car? I'm really interested to see your wife's car, especially if the windows aren't tinted. I don't think I've ever seen an alpine silver GS with 17s, no spoiler and non-tinted windows. By the way, I'm with you on alpine silver. I specifically bought a 98 (I would have taken a 99 too), because I strongly preferred alpine silver over milleneum. Also, I thought I preferred the spoilerless look, but once I put the 16s on for the winter, the car really became very plain looking.
By the way, my 17s have Pilot Sport A/S's on them, and I assumed they would be bad in snow, so I bought the 16s for the winter (which have Eagle GT+4s). The GT+4s are fine, but I can't see them being that much better than the Pilot Sport A/S's. I assume when you say "snow and ice" tires, you're talking about buying a set of serious snow tires, and not just all season tires. I would be afraid that they would destroy the ride. I put on a lot of highway miles, and I like the comfort of all season tread.

E-Man,
Just wanted you to know, if you decide to install a rear spoiler. You could still be able to make it function and look as if it was from the factory. It just takes time and money. What doesn't right?
Anyway, when I ordered my GS4 back in '98. They could not get me one with the spoiler. But, they did have one coming with all the other options and color that I wanted. So, it was agreed upon, that when it arrived a factory spoiler would be installed. I did all the work myself. They would supply all the parts. Here's a list of things that I changed to get it to look and function as if it was from the factory: Factory spoiler with all the installation hardware needed to install, rear package tray with no 3rd brake light, bulb warning sensor for a GS with a spoiler, and last but just a important, the tortion springs that hold the trunk up for a GS with a spoiler. With the spoiler on, there's more weight, so the factory has springs that are stronger/stiffer for those cars that have the spoiler. Most people don't know this.
With the exception of installing the spoiler, everything else is a simple DIY project.
Good Luck with this,
Will

Just my personal opinion, but I'd go w/ the '01+ tails and forget the stock spoiler. I'm not a big fan of the stock spoiler nor am I am huge fan of any spoiler. It's not that some don't look great, but everytime I look at my car...it just looks so clean on the back sans spoiler. So personally I'd go tails before I went spoiler. If you like the stock spoiler, go for it, but I would either do SD lip or JP spoiler if I did one.

I think many on here have no problems with it either.
