Hey everyone,
I'm planning to get some 19x9 rims all around for my GS400. But I am not sure what size tires I should get... would 255/40 fit? Any suggestions??

i assume you wil be doing the same size front and rear.

you need 245/35/19 ~25.8" overall diameter.

19*8.5 is what most tire co.recommend. check the tire model specs, some would fit 9" also

255/40/19 ~27.0" too tall- your suspension will be damaged in the future. and i am not sure if the front can accomodate 255

255/40-19 will most likely rub your fender lining (esp. if the car is lowered)...

I agree with GS4Will on going with 245/35-19...and a 8.5" rim...with 9" rims, you'll be stretching the tires and angling the sidewalls which is not a good idea, but a 245 on a 9" rim is not horrible (I've seen worse)

Default Thanks for your advice

Thanks gs4will/manaray for your advice. I initially wanted to get a staggered setup 8.5" F 9.5" R, but I changed my mind to get the same size all around so I can rotate my tires. But it seems like if I do get the same size all around, 8.5" is as big as I can go. Hmm... decisions decisions....

Default i understand

GSP,

no prob.
i understand completely what you are saying. 8.5+9.5, good and mean looking with 245/275 tyres; considering the gs has that BIG rear end wheel and tire space waiting to be filled. but the cost factor, and the rotation issue is a big concern for me also.

In all honesty, unless you have cash to blow or you have a tire sponsorship ( ), getting the same size rims/tires all around makes sense. Staggering is not for everyone....but I love my 2.5" rear lip. (get yer mind outta the gutter)
