With the L-tuned steering ECU you get less assist from the power steering pump, so more effort is required to turn the steering wheel (not by much though).
The added effort is more noticeable at highway speeds, less so on parking situations. The result: better steering feedback at higher speeds, which is real nice! I highly recommend it!
Sorry I overlooked your reply to my ECU question, thanks for the info. I'm probably going to order it through Steve since $125 sounds too good to pass up. Thanks again,
Now this steering is worrying me even more. Like I said, I was driving my uncle's ls400 for a week and the GS seemed to have hard steering when I got back to it. But it actually seems that its even harder now then it was before. My friends who had driven the car before and now also agree that its much harder to steer now. It requires a lot more effort. Do you guys think its just normal or is there a real problem?
I am still driving the ls400 quite a bit and swapping between the two often, maybe it STILL feels hard since I am comparing to the ls?
I know what you're talking about, except the exact oppositte trend for me. My wheel used to be a lot tighter, but has now gradually faded to a more loose feel. My friends felt the difference also.
Maybe it's paranoia, maybe it's a legitimate concern.
I'm personally going to solve it by getting the ECU upgrade, I'm not sure how you can reverse the process though. Good luck,
Originally posted by gs4power I believe the ECU can’t change the steering ratio. The ratio depends on the teeth design of the rack and pinion, thus it is a fixed parameter and cannot be changed by computer intervention.
So you're saying ONLY the effort can be varied... well, I bow to your knowledge, but that's sure not how it seems to me. All I know is if you like driving in any way different from a chauffer - get the L-Tuned ECU.
