So long, GS4
I've been thinking about this car since I saw a review in Car & driver last month that said 0-60 in 4.2 sec.
Man I would love to feel that kind of acceleration. Do you just blast off every chance you get?
That was an excellent review you did. Including the buying experience was also interesting.
I was wondering if it included power seats and you answered that question. I've become spoiled with the GS seats.
What is the HUD I have no idea.
Two other questions both cop related. Do you have cops really keeping a close watch on you?
And do you think the red color attracts their attention?
I love my GS400 but 400hp is really intriguing. And I read where there is a rumour of 500hp next year.

The C6 is a lot of fun.
Everywhere I go people gawk & give me props. Driving with the top off on a nice day is awesome.
The GS is indeed very fast, but it is 'sedate' when compared to the Vette. Off the line I don't jump on it too much as I'm still trying to reaquaint myself with clutch driving after a long hiatus.
My favorite thing is to nail it out of corners where it sort of feels like riding my GSX-R 1000 (OK , not quite). The motor is a torque monster.
The other thing is that the car handles much, much better than the GS, even though I have all the L-Tuned components. The HUD (Heads-up display) is awesome; it has a G-meter that is way cool.
It's not as refined as the GS, but it is certainly much more engaging to drive. I usually find myself smiling when I'm behind the wheel.
So far, the only problem I've had is a fuel-level sensor go bad, which was a drag.
I've been poking around the car a lot & basically feel that there is a lot of untapped potential in the motor. The Z06, due out next year is targeted to have 500HP & it is highly likely that the current engine/drivetrain were designed for the increased HP. Given that GM has not released any tuning software & been mumm on the Z06 internals, I think getting an additional 100HP without going to nitrous or a blower should be relatively easy. The intake system looks absurdly restrictive with no cold-air snorkel whatsoever.
Overall I'm having a blast with the C6. It's very tight with no rattles/squeeks & is a hoot to drive. I love the Z51 suspension too.
So far, I have not had any problems with police. The red does draw a lot of attention though.
The GS seats are great, but the C6 seats are very nice as well; they are very supportive, yet comfortable over the long-haul. The only item missing is that there is not a power adjustment for seat-back adjustment.
I'm attending a performance driving course this weekend, then hope to take the C6 for a track day; maybe T-Hill or <drool> Laguna!!!
My wife wants to keep the GS4 because she really likes it, but we only have a 2-car garage.
My GS needs a new home!
Regarding the tranny issue; my vin is 2256. A "problem" was encountered around production of vin 5200 (or somewhwere in that area), and stopped the line for less than a day. That's the last I heard & 6-speeds are currently being delivered. May have been a problem with the line itself, or a small subset of vins. I have not heard of any recalls & there are Vette guys that talk to the plant on a regular basis.
My 6-speed works fine.

Great review.
Take it from a previous vette owner (2 myself and over 6 total in the family with a Calloway and a ZR1) everything you mentioned seemed on par for Vette Characteristics. You will never drive another vehicle like it. Enjoy it, but be prepared for a higher cost to own than the GS400. Stuff is going to break... but as long as you are patient and have the $$$ it is worth the hassle to own a Vette...
I miss mine at least a couple of times a year... but the GS4 is a really nice alternative and with suspension mods is nearly as satisfying... with 4 doors, room, a nice stereo, and reliability.

Having never owned a Vette before, I was really nervous about quality/reliability.
It would be great for GM (and me) if the C6 is not plagued by recalls or quality problems.
I still have 35k miles of coverage left though!
Awesome new car! I had been looking at them too (not to buy of course) but checking it out and comparing, that new Vette is hott! Have fun, and drive carefully! Also, have to admit, it's a nice switch.

The 'VETTE' is an awesome car. It will hold its' value somewhat if you don't accumulate too many miles. But a car is made to DRIVE, not look and stare at.
I used to own GM's too,, but haven't since 1980 when I gave it up for good..(I think). If I could get Lexus reliability, resale value, and fit and finish, I would buy GM in a second. Lets hope they have learn to SWEAT THE DETAILS more in the areas of fit and finish, and quit using so much plastic. Lots of plastic is ok with a cavalier (or whatever the cheap car is these days), but not in a 50,000 dollar car.
ENJOY that car. There is nothing like it in its' class. It sure is beautiful!
