So, it's an even trade I guess...

damn, I'd take power folding over auto-dimming any day... well..... they are nice when you cut some jerk off and he high-beams you and you laugh cuz both your side mirrors and rearview auto-dim

If someone could point me in a direction where to find the motors/switches and everything required and I'll take the plunge (assuming its cost effective)

You should be able to swap out the glass of the JDM with the USM mirrors so that you don't have to deal with the wide angle view.

The glass just snaps off and on with the US version. I've don't before. Hopefully this part is the same.

i agree, the housing and stuff could stay, you probably only need the internal parts anyway

Cuz the LS430 costs $10K more than the GS430.

But you made me wonder, could the LS430 mirrors be retrofit to a GS!?!

i just realized the importance of the power folding mirrors this saturday while at the mall when some idiot sideswiped my car (LS430) and kinda damaged my mirrors.... this was one of the few times i turned off the auto folding mirror function.. with the auto folding mirrors, as you reverse, it also points the glass towards the bottom (i guess, so that you wouldnt hit the curb)... but I was backing into a parking so I wanted to see straight behind me... then i forgot to close the mirrors.... grrrrr... now, the mirror's got a bit of damage on it!!!

oh btw, the GS is going to be coming out of the shop this week... yeah!!! I miss it so much. I got some stuff cooking and will be posting pix in about a month or so. stay tuned...
