Angry Strange Noise

Guys......

My new (to me) 01 CPO GS300....I`ve had it two days..... has developed a hiccup.

Did`nt notice it leaving the dealership, but during acceleration there is this not very loud, abnormal sound coming from the drivers front tire area.

I know the dealership performed some TSBs and there are two re the front coil spring and front stabilizer, but I don`t know if those we performed.

What throws me is, it`s only during acceleration, seems to be most obvious between 20 - 40 mph. The fact that it only does it accelerating makes me think it `s not related to the TSBs.

It`s not a clicking noise but I really can`t describe it, maybe a gargled buzz.

Any ideas?

Thanks..........David

Well since you have had it for only 2 days and its CPO bring it back to the dealer and tell them to drive it to find out what the problem is.

it's ONLY between 20-40 or it's most noticeable between 20-40? and does it change its tone from 20-40?

just thinking if it has to do with pads not sitting right or so

I have heard the "buzzing" noise as you describe in two different GS300. The one I bought and another one I almost bought. To my amazement the dealer found it. There is a brake line that runs along the body and up the fire wall on the driver side. There is also a braket that appears to have no purpose, it is not attached to anything. It is this brake line rubbing or resonating against the bracket which makes the noise. The dealer bent the bracket out of the way and it stopped. It has been 4K miles so I am sure it is gone.

I changed my oil this weekend, I also have an 01. In my boredome I performed the stabilizer bar TSB. I did find two of the bolts loose or below the torque value specified on the TSB. I retorqued to the new value. I never heard any noise and if I did not know about the bulletin I would have never known. I also checked the torque on my drive shaft flange bolts. I think 58 ft-lbs, I would have to look at the spec, I found one at 53 ft-lbs all others were tight.
