OK... I just took 30 minutes out of my life and adjusted the cable and went for a test drive...

Man, that cable was loose... Tightened it by moving both nuts close to a half inch with very little thread left to go on the bolt...

Idle in D is slightly over the half way mark but not quite to 3/4...

Response on the throttle is much approved and pedal feel is better! Recommend anyone who has never checked out the slack in this cable give it a good look.

For the second part of the equation... Took the car from a dead stop to about 15 miles and hour and sunk the pedal 3/4 to the floor...

After about 1-2 seconds of acceleration in a higher gear the downshift finally occured...

Wish i never noticed it, actually my Damn father-in-law is who pointed it out... of course my reply was who the hell drives that way, let me take you for a ride...

Anyway, I don't know a reason when I would be rolling at such a low MPH and need to floor it, I usually drive at a faster rate of speed anyway, and I prefer to apply it progressively or from a dead stop anyway... Which this vehicle does quite well I might add.

Anyway, I had a big grin just driving out for a couple of minutes... I love this car.

Coming from 2 vettes, turbo 300Z, turbo eclipse, and a maxima... Then having my 2 vehicles be a 200sx and a Xterra (SC/SE model, but still a truck) the return to V8 power has me feeling the tuning bug once again... That and the 200 wasn't worth messing with and the intake and exhaust on the Xterra were really the only mods to do since I don't drive off road.

I just took the TRD strut tower bar off my car. Believe me it makes a noticeble difference. The problem was, my car has over 135,000 miles on it and this bar made the front end so stiff that it seemed to bring out all the rattles and creeks from the front end. Anyway, I'm gonna post a thread here in a bit offering it up for sale. It was on the car less than a month. Send me a PM if you want first dibs on it. I'm gonna do a search now and find a reasonable asking price. Good luck and enjoy your car!

Yes it is, just unscrew 3 nuts on each side, slide bar over the bolts, screw nuts back on. Takes less than 10 minutes.

Cool, that's what i thought but I wanted to make sure. I also think I remember reading on another thread that the nuts should be tightened to 41lbs of torque when re-tightening... I will have to do a search...

Sorry to thread jack, but while I was reading this thread, I saw somone say that you couldn't tell the diffrence with the L-Tuned Steering ECU if you have 18" inch wheels and up? That true? How come the L-Tuned packages come with 18"s then?

Again I disagree. Steering will feel more secure, and the car will flex less going over bumps.

That's the thing about mods... people's reactions to them vary of course.

Your 525i sure doesn't handle better than MY GS4.

I agree there! I held off upgrading tail lights for a long time, but I'm so glad I finally did. I also got the 2001+ guage cluster in the dash which looks nicer too.
yahooo!!! 1-3. hehehe.... like i said, i tried the strut bar...and felt no difference at all the ecu i think is up for debate...but i just said what i have heard from others and our 525i handling is unbelievable. and its fully stock. turns are very controlled and stable. the brakes are like buttery smooth feeling and grip like no other. i just hope that when i put on the bradi rotors, pads...that it will compare

I've tried adjusting that throttle cable (mine seems a bit loose) but I CANNOT untighten the square bolts on either side of the bracket thingy.

They were very tight. You have to push hard. I think I loosened the one closest to the front of the car first and then I started on the one closest to the windshield and had to hold the metal part of the cable closest to the nut with a pair of pliers to loosen it. Once you get the front one loose you can move the cable backwards and get better access to the one closest to the windshield.

1) deffinately cut your springs
2) drill a few holes in ur muffler...thatll open it right up
3) LED washes my main man...thats all i have to say

jk

for real tho

"I am definately getting the Grounding kit, Steering ECU, and TRD front upper strut bar and my GS400 is riding on factory chrome 17's with 235/45 rubber which I have no plans on changing so keep ride hieght in mind with that wheel/tire combo in place."

Dont buy the grounding kit or the steering ecu. imo those are waste of ur budget.

grab a used (new to you) SRT or KNN intake off the boards, used spring shock setup and shoot for one of the guys used Greddy's for like 350.

Im pretty budget compared to some of the dudes on here that roll up money and stick it in their turbines when taking pics..... pm me if u want any real suggestions.
