Are you a DIY Guy or Not...
This thread inspired me to DIY today. I bought some carbon fiber vinyl to cover the wood on the dash. I was going to pay someone to professionally install it. Instead I tried it myself. I did okay. Some of the panels look great. The others look okay. The middle section was a major pain with the 2 side by side a/c vents. At least I learned enough to re-do it better next weekend.
I just took my ML amp out on my own, and now i have a pile of screws that i have to put back. Hopefully my navi didn't get screwed up in the process, lol.
And to think i was gonna pay my friend (the Lexus tech) about $50-60 to do it for me - HA!

well, since the purchase in April of the Gs400 i have done oil and filter change and installed the grille(easy) and thats about it... The big things like coilovers and major engine stuff i let a shop handle... I going to learn how to do brakes, tie rods, ball joints, etc from Ed
He has shown me alot when i went down there to his house for install on my front brakes.... he definitely know his stuff
I'm going to do the front brakes on my ES and the rears on my GS... I'm happy knowing i can just buy the parts and that i can install this and be happy that i saved some money..

Im definitely NOT mechanically inclined, though my buddy and I intalled the Ltuned sides and grille ourselves, and another friend and I installed the HKS exhausts. Other than those two occassions, the only major DIY thing Ive done is write the checks all by myself to pay someone else to work on my car for me
(oooooh the money I would save if I had an ounce of mechanical talent)

not DIY, even though i want to be.... i'm all thumbs and often miss/break things which often ends up costing me more in the end had i asked someone skilled to do it
my last disaster was on a honda i onced owned... i tried to change a seized spark plug and ended up breaking it off inside the head. tow the car to the dealer, pull head, remove remains of plug, heliarc new threads, reinstall everything... $$$$

100% me. If I couldn't do the maintenance and mods myself my wife wouldn't have let me buy my GS400!!! Fortunately I've worked on cars all 37 years of my life. I've rebuilt engines, installed trannies and so forth. In a couple of weeks I'll be replacing my timing belt and water pump. Should be fun.

Most definitely a DIYer....the only thing i dont do is paint. I also paid a shop to install my Ltuned susp about 2.5 year ago....but since then, I have helped out installing coilovers on a GS... 3 times...very simple.
