Hahahaha... Sounds like a little family problem...

Lexus is not overpriced if you look at the car market as a whole. The car (and company) has been rated very high for last decade + and continues to out shine the other car makers in overall quality. You just bought a great car that will last a very long time. You only live once...what's another $6000?

You could also try to locate a fully loaded used 2000 GS400 or CPO GS300 for considerably less. Both look the exact same as the car you have now, with the difference being the engine and some interior cosmetic differences that are really not that noticeable. Take a look around the site and you will see plenty of older 98+ GS's here that look identical to your GS430.

Anyway, I think they are great cars...hence I have two! And the rest of my family has three...one of every model!

Enjoy your new car...there are other things in life to stress over or argue with your husband over then an automobile.

there's no other cars like a lexus
ever since i own my gs430, for some reason, sitting in any other car other than a lexus disappoints me.
you can totally tell the difference in quality. i just test drove the new tl, granted the interior is very nice, but opening the glove compartment/ feeling the materials used, touching and feeling everything in the car doesn't feel the same w/ the exception of the seats (they're very comfortable), the quality between the two is very noticeable to me. that's jus' my 2cents.

$33k is a great deal for a 03 GS430 with 30K miles. Edmunds.com has these prices: Trade in $39,331, Private Party $41,270 and Retail $44,881. A new 03 GS430 is over $50k I search 03 GS430 at Autotrader.com and couldn't find one for under $33K. Enjoy a great buy.

If you decide to sell it to buy a less expensive model of Lexus, I'll be glad to take it off your hands.

congrats on the purchase, lexus is a great car.. I would say any car enthusiast can drive a GS and say it is worth the price tag and if not maybe a GS isn't the car for you but driving it should convince you, not ppl on a forum..

Default one smooth car!!!!

I've been a bit pissed about the car so I had only sat in it twice (once from the dealership, and once to take it to inspection). Last night tho, I actually drove it...even floored it. LOL. (yes phluid, I took your advice).

...and I am stunned. I have NEVER experienced a smoother drive in my life. I am beginning to understand why men fall in love with their cars.

I know I sound like I jumped on the Lexus bandwagon already, but before you all say "I told you so..." please tell me how ANYONE who has had the experience of driving this car can go back to driving a cheaper car. (back me up please GSing430)

Actually bro, it does have navigation (sorry for not mentioning it before, but as I said, I have only been in the car...3 times now), and yes it is blue, but a dark blue. Ive seen a few posts that show pics of a bright blue Lexus but its not the same color. My only complaint (so far) would be that the nav sys confused me last night. The names of a couple of streets were incorrect. I guess it could come in handy someday so I won't complain about it too much. Oh I dont like the spoiler either. Is it possible to remove that?

OK. I do have a serious question tho...which I am almost afraid of hearing tha answer to since I am just beginning to like this car. Although the car fax came out clean, we were told this car was a 'tester' once upon a time. We're taking the car down to a Lexus dealership today to have it double checked because upon hearing that, it makes me nervous. Does anyone know anything about testers? Please be easy on me - I don't know if I can handle parting with that car now. LOL.

Thanks guys (again)...I appreciate it!!!! Take care.

Charlie

I would assume that by tester, they mean a loaner car? it might have been a car that is loaned out to ppl having service appts. BUT, you got a great deal, actually very hard to believe. That dealership must have wanted to get rid of the car. GS430 w/ navi is rather expensive. However, the mileage on that car is a little high for the actual age.

I am sure they did not use the GS430 as a loaner...they usually use IS, RX & ES as loaners. This one was probably just used as the dealer test car for people interested in a GS430...so they wouldn't be driving all their cars on the lot and adding up mileage...I wouldn't be too worried. Get it checked out...I am sure everything will come back fine as long as regular service was performed.

You can change out the spoiler, but you will need to take it to a body shop to fill the holes and have it repainted. I would just keep it the way it is until you get a better understanding of what you like...keep reading the posts on CL, look at other members cars...but make sure your 100% that it's what you want to do...because when the mod bug hits...your wallet is what usually takes the fall!

Plus you would have to add the third brake light in the deck if the light is currently on the spoiler.
