Default Cut off after big bump

Howdy guys, so my friend has a 99 GS300 and he says he hit a "big bump" and his car shut off. unfortunately I wasn't there for the incident but when I was trying to diagnose the problem for him the car would turnover fine but seemed like it wasn't getting either fuel or spark. So I tried the starting fluid trick and it fired up for a second and died when I stopped. So I assumed I should check the fuel pump, and sure enough it wasn't priming with the key at all. So I put a new pump that I had in it thinking that should fix the problem. but now it still has no priming noise at ACC on, But when you try to crank it you can hear the pump going while holding the key and when you let go of the ignition it sounds like it does some kind of like extra priming function then it stops. if you guys have ANY idea what the hell the problem could be I would love to hear them because now he is fed up with it and says i can buy it for $500 and i cant imagine that it could be anything that isn't a simple fix. im gonna buy it regardless and put a haltech in it with a GTE head if "i HAVE to" lol thanks in advance yall

Try checking the battery terminal connection. This sounds like something that happened to me a few years ago. Hit a big bump and the car just shut off. Turned out to be a loose battery connection. GL.

2nd that you check the battery terminals. Shake them and see if they move when you have them fully tighten down. The type of battery terminals that Lexus used seem to stretch over time and they become loose even if you crank down the bolt. The contact patch is also smaller than most cars, you can buy some generic ones for cheap that make a better connection and stay tight.

3rd that. Happened to me before in the middle of the highway the car just shut off. I had to replace my terminal they definitely get stretched out over time.

well if the car is cranking over, it would seem the battery cables are doing their job.i would think that a hard jolt could have hurt the fuel pump relay or something like that. I know many cars have a fuel pump shut off feature that shuts off power to the fuel pump If you get in a wreck. I have not noticed anything anything like this on my GS, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have one.
