Hello,
I'm on BC coilovers and to my best knowledge everything on the front end of my car has less than a few thousand miles.
I found a video that has the similar sound and there wasn't a final solution as in the comments after changing the upper control arms he said the noise came back.
The noise only happens when there is weight on the car. If im standing outside the window and turning the wheel there wont be any noise. if im sitting and turning the wheel the noise is very audible.
There are several possible culprits for these types of noises in your specific vehicle. Let me ask a few questions and see if that will narrow things down. So does your car make this noise constantly when you’re driving? Like every time you turn the steering wheel you can hear this noise? The first thing that comes to mind when i watch this video is that his power steering rack is going bad or something, since the noise seems to be exclusively from the steering and not from the suspension. But it’s also possible that something is really loose, like the upper shock bolts aren’t tight, so when the steering wheel is turned, the top of the coil over is making that noise because it’s able to flex? But those are both just guesses. You really need to get someone to sit behind the wheel and turn it while you try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from? Pop the hood and see if you can hear it coming from somewhere in the power steering system? Or maybe get under the car and see if it is coming from one side or the other? So you mentioned that it only makes the noise when there is weight on the front end? So if you put the front end on jackstands, the noise completely goes away? If you can narrow it down to a specific area, then put the front on jackstands, you can pull the wheel off from the side it’s coming from, and then use a floor jack to cycle the suspension, while your friend is turning the steering wheel, and see if you can see any problems in the suspension or steering? You might find some worn out bushings or something flexing while it’s making the noise?
Make sure you’re extremely careful while you’re around a vehicle that is up on a jack or jackstands. Make sure to block the rear wheels, and if you remove a wheel, throw it under the vehicle before you stick your head underneath anything, just in case it came off the jackstands. You don’t want to take any chances when you are going to be under a vehicle.
Update this thread with what you find out and I am sure you’ll have a solution soon.
