Default Intake

Hello, I have a 98 GS400 and I was looking to get an aftermarket intake. From what i’ve read the stock intake is pretty good and better than the K&N intake so that rules that out. any other ideas? I was also looking to replace or wrap some hoses like the one going from the radiator to engine or stuff like that. I wanted to just freshen up my engine bay and try to get some of those hoses like aluminum or chrome looking. Anyone have and recommendations? Thanks.

I spent the $500+ dollars for a K&N, and it looks great, it sounds great but, definitely not $500 better. And since then I’ve seen some lesser known brands listed on eBay for substantially less money. And I also saw a “DIY” guide on here that showed how to alter the factory intake to look and sound and for minimal money. The factory intake gets brittle and the vacuum ports become very delicate, so be gentle with them.

I currently have a cheap ebay style "hot air intake" I dont recommend doing this, but I had to because the resonator in the stock intake was too far gone for repair (thanks Vegas! lol) but Power House Racing has a kit that adapts to the stock intake box and replaces the stock resonator pipe going to the throttle body on their website. If your stock intake box flap is still good id recommend doing that and putting in a drop in K&N filter.
