Hi all, just taken my 2004 GS 300 into the garage for a new water pump, they have rang me to say they have ordered a new cam belt to fit at the same time... Is this correct I thought the engine had chains???

 

All 2nd gen GS motors have timing belts which require removal to change the water pump so your shop is correct. I'd request that they use Aisin parts as they are the manufacturer of the OEM belts and water pumps.
