1st Gen vs 2nd Gen GS300
Is there a substantial difference in strength between the 1st gen and 2nd gen engines when boosting? What would the safe psi and max hp difference be between the two? I'm looking into purchasing a GS300 with the intent to moderately boost and daily drive. Later on down the line I may look into upping the boost and keeping it for the weekends.

Depends which form of motor you are talking about.
Sounds like you want to pick up a 2jzge N/A car and add a turbo to it. In this case, the 2nd gen gs300 vvt-i motors have weaker rods than there 1st gen NA counterparts. Although you can swap short blocks out to solve this issue, the 1st gen is overall easier to do.

Yes, I understand that the rods are weaker on the vvti 2jzge motor but I'm trying to find out how much of a difference it is from the pre vvti 2jzge.
