2JZ-GTE as a daily driver?
Do any of you guys use a GTE swap as your daily driver? If so, how is the maintenance and upkeep? I want to do a swap to my wife's GS but if I do, it will be my only car (she will take mine and trade it in for something else).

Is preventive maintenance costly or just the same as any other car? I know the GTE is reliable but because it is a swap and not factory installed, i'm concerned about it. I guess is really just depends on who installs it.

I would keep your wifes GS, do the GTE swap, then get like a Honda Civic or something else cheap for your DD. Your not gonna want to rack up a bunch of miles on the GTE, not that it can't handle it, but that engine is meant more for fun, and so should be used that way.
Idk where you live but if you have a winter with snow and salt, I wouldn't want to drive my GS through it.

I daily a 1jz with some BPU mods and its a blast. However I am looking for an actual daily so as not to run up to miles too too quick. I think its due for the 90k mile service, but its been pretty worry free thus far.

my aristo still has factory twins, running 330whp at 14PSI, and i daily drive it with 17PSI.
drive it all through winter, right now it's -28C and we just got 2 feet of snow in 24 hours, with some gusts of snow deeper than 3 feet, and i'm daily driving it just fine

and if you can't afford to do maintence on a turbo car, then you shouldn't even be THINKING of doing a swap or getting one.
that's like people complaining about putting premium fuel in a new lancer ralliart (they come turbo'd) at my work. like ****, get real, you gotta pay to play

My car has 450WHP and it is my daily. I have had a few problems with it.
1. crank pulley
2. Alternator
3. Oil changes are getting expensive (I change it religiously at 2,500 miles with Mobile One)
4. Tires are VERY expensive lots of power eats rear tires
5. Rack is leaking. Needs to be replaced.
Those are the only problems I have had so far. I drive about 320 miles per week. I like having it as a daily...but I am trading the car on sunday.
I really like the car, it turns MANY heads, and its a fun car, super reliable honestly. Those problems im having can happen to ANY car. Just luck its all gone out at one time...especially at Christmas time...
