Default Anyone tried this mod?

I was reading Supraforums and came up upon this pretty neat mod. I've seen euro cars have this like BMW's n whatnot but never an import.
basically before and after

the user of SF said he used a auto/manual shifter kit from autozone for 19.99. and the shifter boot u can get from where u want, he used a honda boot.

looks good but i cant see it working on a 1st gen because of 1) the shifter and 2) the shifter trim

as for the square shape the e38 also has about the same shape as ours, but shorter by 1-2 inches.

also did the Mk4 auto shifter have a square or round shaft?
