LOL. Thank you for all of your comments. I have gotten some great stuff to say to him. The only reason that he gave me for his car being better then a Lexus is because it gets 38 mpg and is easy to find the parts when it needs to get fixed. Other then that, he didnt really say too much about it. The main thing that he is focusing on is the fact that his car is an 06 and he thinks that because it is brand new means it is great. I tried telling him that 06 or not it is still a POS but he said that if you check the money market. Haundai is the leading seller in cars and leading competitor for warranty. Of course it has a good warranty, it needs it.

LOL, hes lieing to you. That tibby doesnt get 38mpg...at best maybe 30 and thats ALL highway, if he has the 4cyl. If he has the 6 then best is prolly around 26 or 27. Only cars I know of that get 38mpg are like a corolla or a hybrid of some sort. Plus anyway, tell him to take his car and shove it, that car cant compare to a Lexus...stock or modified.Originally Posted by GS300GIRL

Last I checked Toyota was the top dog as far as sales.
Hell, just tell him to shut the hole under his nose till he passes puberty.

Alright, I have to step in here. I know alot of us (if not all) are bias to the lex. And you sire are on the wrong forum for this kind of question PERIOD!! And you other guys, don't dog the tib!!! Apples and oranges here fellas, stop being stupid. Sure the lexus has it's class but the newer tibs are very promising. My partner and I do performance tuning for sportcompact and luxury vehicles. He has about 5 grand in parts for his Tib (still naturally aspirated) such as:
-injen intake
-full exhaust (including headers)
-mafterburner
-y-band ecu tap
-hondata gasket
-oil catch can
-full suspension (eibach springs and struts)
-full poly bushing chassis upgrade (pain in the ****!!!!!!!!)
-lsd (limited slip diff for those that need clarification)
-egt
I have on my 1st gen GS300 :
-injen intake
-clutchfan removal (electric cooling fan swap)
-mid muffler removal
-Intrax springs
-KYB struts
-crossdrilled/slotted rotors
-greenstuff pads
I cannot best him on any aspect, don't dog the Tiburon. Especially if it is modded. You may not have to buy the parts from Italy, but Ferrari did have a hand in the design aspects of the car, so it's no dud.
If you are asking which car is better? Look at the milage some of the guys have on here, then ask yourself what do I want in a car! So what do you want?, a sport compact, or luxury car? Our engines are capable of upgrades near 1000 hp but you have to spend at least 30g's to get there.
Ultimately when I go out driving with my buddy he is the first to be looked at and people are obvious about their curiousity with the car. I have a lowered lexus that sounds like it has a little something under the hood and I have had looks but it's not as "hot" as the tib, period.
Make your decision and you will be happy no matter what, both are good cars, but one has a long history and the other is more aggressive (bang for the buck wise).
Hope I did'nt **** any of you guys off but this is straight up truth.

well, this is a little harsh...first, this is an "opinion" thread, not technical comparisons. And if it is apples and oranges we are comparing, why are you comparing your car to your boys tib? anyways, everyone has their own opinion on all this, and of course we're all gonna say that lexus's are better. this is a lexus website, afterall.
and to put my two cents in on your boys tiburon, it looks like he has nothing but bolt-ons. why does he have an egt? he doesn't have to worry about exhaust temperatures with his light mods. or maybe, he just likes having a gauge showing on his pillar?

First off thank you for being polite to my post, I figured I'd get some raised hairs from my comment. You hit the nail on the head when you said this is an opinion thread which is why I ended it with the question of what the guy wants. He says that his friend says that his tib is better, well, that is a vague statement, better in what way? You ask why I am comparing my car to a tib if it's apples and oranges? well that is exactly what this thread is about, an 06' tib vs. 1st gen gs 300. Don't get me wrong, there is envy on both sides, my buddy loves my car and, I love my car and can't think of anything better to work with for my taste. But to see people bashing the tib because it's not a lexus is wrong, not to mention bad "car"ma. Everyone has their own opinions, but to say that someone elses opinion sucks because it's not a top name brand car does'nt mean he can't spank your *** if he has more love for his car and puts more work and care into it. A car is only as good as it's owner and that's the bottom line.Originally Posted by rbeermann

And to answer your questions about the EGT, he is prepping for F/I. The EGT system also has a TPS and datalogger for better tuning. And he is not just bolt on! we have put many hour's of labor into this car and I'm suprised to hear this kinda talk from someone on this forum, I though we where a little more humble and respectful than this. Technicaly most Turbo kits are "Bolt On" and we have kits for our cars that rate over 400hp! "BOLT ON".
Oh, by the way his guage is'nt pillar mounted, in fact you would probably mistake his car for stock if the engine was'nt running.
Again, thank you for being polite, and for asking decent questions. I hope I did not offend you.

i'm sorry personally i hate the tibrune or yea....i think its ugly.

that is true it is more than 10yrs old. but i didn't take the chance of getting a new car. it was my first time buying my own car and im only 19. i did take in consideration about having a new car but also you gotta consider about the money your working with. i didn't have a lot of money for a new car. i would have of afford it but i'd be hurting. so i got a 11yr old lex. and thought if i have any problems i could just take it to a shop and fix it. in the long run i'd be hurt. but i have a paid off car with no worries except for it breaking on me. and its a LEXUS!! also no matter how old the car is people think your still ballin'.

the new cars like Hyundai and Kia are improving in their price and quality and are now barely outlasting some american cars ie Buick lesabre. and other unrememberables. but even though some still work after 10 years. they run like peices of **** and its not worth putting money into it. ever since ive ovned my lexus back in the fall, ive replaced oodle amounts of stuff, but after i did, it runs like it is brand new! if you do that to a 94 Hyundai, you could have bought two other ones of that same kind and even after you did that it still wouldnt be as refined as it was when new. hese cars age horribly. so if hyundai is improving, you have to wait 10 to 15 years to tell anyway.
Ok first of all let me just remind you I AM A GIRL, hense the name GS300GIRL. Now that i have cleared that up, I thought i was in the right place to post this thread but after reading the last few comments i am begining to wonder, LOL. I appreciate what you are saying about the Tiburon, but i would rather get a 93 that is nice and reliable then a POS 06 that no matter what you do, is not gonna be worth a penny in 10 years. As for my mother driving, i would get her the Lexus becaue i know that once she is done with it she will be able to sell it and have a little money for herself. But, all that has been said here are all great points and i appreciate them all. But come on, LEXUS is totally better.

By the way, i personally am not bashing it because it is not top name brand, im actually not bashing it at all, I just know that they are a POS, and regardless, When it comes to quality the Lexus is better. My car may be old, but it rides and sounds like an 06. So i am not worried one bit. And yes it does in some way depend on the owner, and again, im not worried. I am treating this car as though it was an 06, so that i can maintain the greatness that she posses after 13 years.

OK, this is my story Hyundai vs. Lexus. Back in 2001 I purchase 2001 GS and 2 months after 2001 Hyundai Elantra (winter car). After 5 years of driving this is my poinion. GS - more then 10 times in service for different problems. From moisture in headlights to front struts (replaced twice) to serpentine belt replaced after 5K miles to many rattles and few more problems. Now Hyundai - not once in service other then regular maintenance.GS and Elantra have around 40K miles.Don't get me wrong, these two different cars and GS is luxury car but GS cost 4X then Hyundai.I pick GS over Hyundai any day but in my opinion every car have problems. BTW I don't have GS any more but I still have Hyundai as my winter car. Tx.

I have enjoyed this thread and hope I remained humble enough. I am only bias to both because I have been so close to both, and they are just 2 totally different cars for one to say "mines better than yours!" I have alot of respect for the improvement hyundai has made over the years and just don't forget that companies like honda and toyota where scoffed at when they first arrived to our shores.
Oh and I did a little work to my GS3 check it out on my other thread!
You guys (and GIRL) take it easy and keep up the good conversation.

No worries GIRL. I personally am not worried about any of this either. And the Lexus name is the LEXUS status (as long as it is'nt beat up like the one I have, but it's coming along nicely and you will see wonderful results by the end of the year ((hopefully show-quality)).
