Hmm, probably either a bad O2 sensor thats not triggering the Check Engine Light, or your MAF is reading something wrong. You should try cleaning the MAF, if your car is a 93-95 then the MAF is the big silver thing right after the Air box, if your a 96-97, its the black thing with a green sticker. To clean it, you have to take it off the pipe leading to the intake manifold and clean the thing inside the pipe. I forget what to use to clean it, but if you search you should find it.

Now, if you want to check and see if you really are running too rich, you can spend some money and buy an A/F ratio reader. If you dont want to spend money on buying one yourself, just find a place around town that does performance work and see if they will be kind enough to check it for you. If you are running too rich and you cant figure out the problem, you can always get a Apex-i SAFC2 and tune the car...not worth it IMO.

I really dont know what could be causing the problem, you just need to get it checked out. When I had my car dynoed stock, it was a perfect 11.7 from 3000 RPMS to redline, so something has got to off if your smelling gas out the exhaust....which makes me wonder why your smelling the exhaust in the first place?? lol, to each his own I guess.

Thnx for that great info Aber. I'll try to clean the MAF first then try the O2 sensor? you know if its ez to do the o2 sensor yourself? or how much will it cost to have a shop replace the o2 sensor?

Its easy to do yourself, pretty much unscrew and screw back on. Theres 2 on the header if your OBD2 and one after the first CAT underneath the car on the passenger side. Good luck and dont burn yourself.

There are 3. At lease on my 96. If you really wanna know so badly just go look under the hood and under the car, either you will see them or you wont lol. Look on your headers, and then right underneath the car on the passenger side there should be one right where the exhaust meets the CAT/Headers.
