Default hood struts

hey guys,
i recently swaped my trunk struts and the tech told me only one was needed to be replaced . so i kept the old one which he said was still good.
now my hood struts don't hold up the hood and am wondering if it could be like the trunk where only one was defective.
is there a way to find out if each hood strut is defective(i.e find oyt if only one needs to be replaced).
cos in that case i could use the extra one i have from the trunk replacement.
(cos i heard they are all the same for both trunk and hood).
what do u guys think?

Mine don't hold up either but i know which one is messed up.

Try this: Open your hood as far as it will open. Let go of the hood and see which way (side of) the hood will lean when its going down. You should be able to tell this way.

How bad are your struts?? Mine will hold it up on its own once in a while for like 15 seconds and then itll go down....hopefully it wont do this when it gets a lil warmer!! But for now i got a board bout 2 feet long and its a hella lot cheaper than a new strut for 65$$

Cool

It's cheap enough to just replace them in sets!

Default hood struts

yeah,
mine holds up after about two attempts .
i'll try to look which side it leans on while coming down.
i hope only one is bad cos i do not want to spend anything on struts.
just wanna get my car ready 4 spring/ summer(new rotors, brake pads, paint job, tires (maybe rims), detatiled engine /interior cleaning) so i can finally post some pics of my car.
i seem to envy everyone cos i have never posted a pic of my car.
but when i do in about 2-3weeks it is going to be super clean.
