Freeze 12
No license is neccessary to purchase it, environment friendly and reported to be colder than 134a and r12. I heard a guy talking about this stuff at a hardware store so I googled it. Syas you can convert either system to this new Freeze 12. I was just curious if anyone here has tried it yet.
Freeze-12 in 12oz. Cans.

It's not COLDER than R12, it's very close however. I did some research on all the different replacement freons available for auto use. I did find some dirt on freeze12 at the time. If I were you I'd stick with what came in the car originally. If you do freeze12 you will have to change the service fittings and you should replace the drier as well. You'll have to have a shop evacuate all the old freon and then check for leaks and recharge with freeze12. Freeze12 does not mix with the oil in the current system so you'd need to change the oil or face a possible compressor loss in the next couple of years. There's no guarantee that freeze 12 will be around for any length of time , so you may have a hard time finding supply, should you need it in the future. Most shops will not work on non standard freons, so check that out as well.
