i want to have a buddy of mine who owns a shop do my oil changes. He uses some generic filters though. I will bring in my own filter. Can I get it cheaper from toyota? with a cross reference from the lexus JZ motor? The stealership will rob me, im sure. what do you guys use?

Yeah I think you can get it cheaper from toyota. Probably a good idea. Just depends on the dealer. Sometimes Lexus dealers can be cheaper or the same price on stuff like oil filters so just call around.
I still get my oil changes at Lexus but I only put around 3k miles a year on the car so i'm not in there too much. That reminds me, the last time I was in there the swapped my owner's manual with someone else's. Now I have a 1996 ES300 manual.
Haven't seen you on the forum in a while. lol.

do a search on "lexus oil filters are a rip off" or something like that. its a thread i started 1-2 years ago that tells you what filter you should use. The one that was recomened is a TRD toyota oil filter from japan that is made for the supra's and v8 engine and its suppose to filter a lot more oil better. its worth the 7-10 bucks that you get it for. there's lots of pictures in this thread that compares the regular filter with this trd one. someone cut one open just to show up the quality of it.
