I have placed many orders on restaurant.com and have never had the slightest problem. They get a big from me.

As a customer I don't let them know I have any coupons or discount until the bill comes. That way the server won't give you crappy service. Why would they do that?

Well because people who have coupons generally think they should tip on their total AFTER discount! Servers don't make that much money - TIP THEM ACCORDING TO THE BILL BEFORE THE DISCOUNT!! They busted their butt thinking they are getting a certain tip based on what you ordered.

Now this doesn't apply to servers that flat out suck, tip according to the bill amount and service.

I look at it this way - you're already saving a nice chunk of change - might as well throw some of the money you were going to spend their way.

 

some of the resturaunts will ask if you have any coupons or certificates when the host seats you. i was asked the other night when i went to a japanese resturaunt by the hostess. when you use these certificates the resturaunts are to already add a 18% gratuity to the bill before you get the discount. i had a great dinner that night and forgot that they already charged the tip to my bill and added another $15 for tip. read and remember whats on the certificate cause they arent all the same.

 

I guess it really depends on the server since I used it this past Saturday night & wasn't automatically charged an 18% gratuity.
