Toyota rebooting its EV plan with Tesla in mind
Toyota is at its heart a bean counting / financial company. Their strategy is to stick with what is profitable, which are hybrid sales until it is no longer. By then, they can just adopt whatever is commoditised and then turn profit again.
All this EV talk is just talk. No way it will be mainstream for them.

I see they sold 4,000 EQS for all of 2022 in US which is comparable to Sclass sales.
personally have seen only a handful Eqs around and thousands of the new Sclass.
Not sure where all these EQS cars are hiding or maybe they all went to Cali.
Personally I think they are well ahead of other automakers.
If the EQS looked like regular Sclass - i think it could have sold even better.
I was impressed by it on my test drive.
It will be interesting to see the profitability of these companies in next 5-10 years.
The S Class is outselling the EQS by around 5k units for 2022, in the USA, so the EQS is still moving a good amount of numbers. But I recall reading some headlines that the EQS is not doing so well in China, which should be the market it does best in, since they're huge on full-size and EVs.
