Toyota is at its heart a bean counting / financial company. Their strategy is to stick with what is profitable, which are hybrid sales until it is no longer. By then, they can just adopt whatever is commoditised and then turn profit again.

All this EV talk is just talk. No way it will be mainstream for them.

Majority of that were EQA and EQB which are crappy cars not even sold in US I believe.

I see they sold 4,000 EQS for all of 2022 in US which is comparable to Sclass sales.
personally have seen only a handful Eqs around and thousands of the new Sclass.
Not sure where all these EQS cars are hiding or maybe they all went to Cali.

Well they need to say all the right things and stay positive.
Personally I think they are well ahead of other automakers.

If the EQS looked like regular Sclass - i think it could have sold even better.
I was impressed by it on my test drive.

It will be interesting to see the profitability of these companies in next 5-10 years.

The S Class is outselling the EQS by around 5k units for 2022, in the USA, so the EQS is still moving a good amount of numbers. But I recall reading some headlines that the EQS is not doing so well in China, which should be the market it does best in, since they're huge on full-size and EVs.

Its because of the styling. Nothing “boss” about it, and in China it’s all about looking “boss”

It's because the S-Class is bought for chauffeuring in China, and the EQS despite having the almost exact same footprint as a LWB S-Class and being a bespoke EV platform yet somehow manages to have even less rear seat space than the S-Class. Ironic that it failed to accomplish the key goal of the market it was designed for despite all the effort put into its questionable looks.
