Doubt it sells more than the F150. Not saying it is impossible but I think the F150 will sell quite a bit more.

I think I'm beginning to change my mind from my earlier post in comparison to the Juke, and agree with Blaze. It just might be the ugliest vehicle to date.

I propose an avatar bet loser has to sport the avatar chosen by the winner.

1) guess we'd have to define 'dud' plus the fandom is so strong that they will sell a lot to people who have zero need for one and for whom it's not even practical, but hey, it's "elon".
2) since 'full production' is likely a year or more away, perhaps let's revisit a bit closer.

You can make the bet for end of next year. Wouldn't be surprised by that time Tesla still hasn't sold 1 unit while the Lightning would be selling for months. (although Lex did say when Tesla reaches full production which might be maybe 2028 give or take 3 years).

Few months ago you said "total dud" so your term, tell us what it means. I'll do an avatar bet with you.

^^^ comments on that post are interesting, one saying it's dependent on 4680 (new style) batteries and that those are being used in semi (tractor trailer) production start. no idea what's true though.

The 4680 battery factory in Texas is specifically for the Y, Semi and CT. My guess is that the Y will get priority before the CT as they can't make them fast enough.

They need the 4680 for the CT in order to get the claimed 500 mile range.

The CT was designed with the 4680 in mind. The Y can do with the current setup until 4680 is ready but not the CT since it's using the structural battery design. I doubt CT will ship in 2022.

Agreed, the point I was trying to make is that the Y is also getting a mega cast with structural battery redesign and I think it will come to market before the CT as it will mean an even greater profit margin for Tesla (which they tend to prioritize), hence even more delays for the CT

Hameed, makes sense that Tesla would focus on cranking more Y production ASAP as they're so far behind in meeting demand (a great problem to have!). no doubt the CT start up will be challenging no matter when they start and could prove a huge distraction against meeting Y demand. exciting stuff.

IMO, Tesla needs to focus on the Model Y. Musk believes the Y will become the #1 selling vehicle in the world, bar none.
If they cannot service the demand, at least some sales will go to the Mach-E, ID.4 and other EVs.

Not only that, but competition dictates get better or fall behind.

Looking at all of the those sharp corners, how could this possible pass the pedestrian safety laws? Admittedly I don't know much about them, but just out of pure common sense, it would seem devastating to any pedestrian that were hit by one of those sharp angles, even at very low speeds.
