If you hack a Tesla and modify the code then you won't be getting over the air updates anymore, or even if you found a way to get them since you've hacked the code the patches won't work or will be buggy.

Did you know that the Model 3 Performance and the Model 3 AWD have the exact same parts in the past (they recently changed motors for the AWD version). This means that the 2 models are essentially the same car with different software. Unfortunately, Tesla updates its software every 2 weeks so cracking it would be moot as the software keeps getting re-written.
